Meet Winifred Leapolu Siaker

Photo of Winifred Leapolo Siaker

Born on October 11, 1996, to Mr. and Mrs. Siaker, Winifred grew up in a family of eight, including her mother, five sisters, and three younger brothers. Tragically, she lost her father during her secondary education, a loss that profoundly shaped her perseverance and commitment to education.

Winifred is the first in her family to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree, graduating as a Physician Assistant from Cuttington University in 2023. Despite financial challenges, she worked tirelessly, often selling goods and helping her mother farm to fund her education. Her success was made possible by a German scholarship from GIZ after her initial sponsor, Mr. Joseph Saiffia Philips, could no longer support her.

Winifred’s ultimate goal is to become a GYN doctor specializing in women’s health. She is currently volunteering as a medical screener at Courage Medical and Rehab Center in Gbarnga, earning $100 per month while caring for her two children, aged 10 and 3, with her fiancé, who is also a second-year medical student. Her dream extends beyond personal achievement; she is deeply committed to improving healthcare in Liberia, particularly for women and underserved communities.
